As we progress through the covid-19 vaccination programme, we are now planning for the booster vaccination in the Autumn. This may be given at the same time as the flu vaccine, however we are waiting on further details being confirmed nationally.
While we don’t have all the details yet, we can share what we do know.
The current model for covid-19 vaccinations will remain in place until the end of August. This is a mix of drop-in clinics and scheduled appointments across our vaccinations centres.
From 1 September we will be moving to seven new sites in the following areas, with an additional team for people who are housebound:
- Airdrie / Coatbridge
- Cambuslang / Rutherglen
- Clydesdale (roving team)
- Cumbernauld / Kilsyth
- East Kilbride
- Hamilton / Blantyre
- Motherwell / Wishaw / Bellshill
We are currently working on confirming the sites and will provide more detail once this work has been completed. However, once the sites have been decided we will ask staff for their preference as to what area they would like to work in.
For those staff with substantive posts within the Primary Care Improvement Plan, our aim is to align you with the locality you were originally based in.
If you have been employed since January 2021 you can express a preference to which area you would like to be placed in. Staff will receive formal correspondence from Human Resources with details on this.
Please note that it may not be possible to provide all staff with their first or second preference. However, please be assured that every effort will be made to allocate your new locality area in line with your priority choice.
The plans for this service are ongoing until 31 March 2022. Due to this timescale, we are able to offer staff the opportunity to extend their current contracts until 31 March 2022. If you wish to accept this offer, please speak to your Team Leader.
We would like to thank all staff involved in the vaccination programme for their continued dedication and hard work, in what has been the largest vaccination programme we’ve ever undertaken. Without our staff, it wouldn’t have been possible.
