Preparing for a Neonatal Community Visit in your home

As part of the Neonatal Community Service, we will offer home visits after your babies discharge to support you at home. Due to the COVID virus we have had to introduce new measures, this leaflet is to help you prepare for a visit from our Community Team.

1. A member of the team will contact you to arrange a convenient date, time and understanding of home visit. This contact will be prior to discharge of your baby or by telephone when discharged.

2. On the morning of home visit a member of the team will contact you by telephone and complete a Pre Visit Questionnaire
a. Do you or anyone in your household have coronavirus?
b. Do you or anyone in your household have a new, continuous cough?
c. Do you or anyone in your household have a high temperature (37.8 degree or over)?
d. Do you or anyone in your household have loss of taste or smell?

3. Prior to visit please prepare a well ventilated room (with an open window).

4. If possible only one member of family to be in attendance for visit.

5. As far as possible, maintain social distancing throughout the visit.

6. Community team will wear mask, apron and gloves. We kindly request that family members present also wear a face mask which can be provided by the Community Team. Disposal of mask, apron and gloves can be bagged and placed in household waste.

7. Community team will touch as few surfaces as possible so may ask you to open doors for them.

8. Community staff will advise if baby requires to be undressed for visit, if needing weighed or examined.

9. The length of visit will be as brief as possible, longer conversations can be provided by Attend Anywhere or by telephone.
