Who will arrange my MRI scan?

You have been assessed by a doctor in the Emergency Department today who will arrange for you to have an MRI scan.

When will I have my scan?

You will be contacted by the Radiology (X-ray) Department directly within the next 10 -14 days, and will be given a date and time for your scan.

Where will I have my scan?

Your scan could be at any of the hospitals in NHS Lanarkshire (Wishaw General, Hairmyres or Monklands) and this will be made clear on your appointment.

What happens after my scan?

After you have had your scan, please contact the Emergency Department reception desk and request a minor injuries clinic appointment.

This appointment should be at least two to three days after your scan. This will allow a specialist to review your scan so that your results are available for discussion in the clinic.

If you were given a splint or support, you should continue to wear this until you are seen in the clinic.

Questions or Concerns?

If you have any concerns or have not had your appointment from the Radiology Department after three weeks from your visit to the Emergency Department, please contact the Emergency Department secretary.

If you are not able to walk on your foot after seven days you should contact:
