Wednesday’s Wellness in Wishaw event was a roaring success with people from across the town coming together to explore the range of health and social care services on offer in the town.

Hosted at the Houldsworth Centre, the day brought together a wide range of people from Wishaw and further afield in North Lanarkshire to connect with local health, wellbeing, social care services and other services.

There were more than 25 information stands with representatives from organisations including University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, Alzheimer’s Scotland, Lanarkshire Carers, mental health support teams, Addiction Support services, Veterans Support, and numerous community development projects.

Michelle McKillop, Wishaw locality service manager, University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: “The day was an incredible showcase of the support and sense of community in Wishaw.

“Lauren Magunnigal, our Queen’s Nurse, came up with the idea for the event, and without the help of Donna Wallace and Grant Murdoch from our Health Improvement team this event would not have been possible.

“The turnout was fantastic and it was inspiring to see so many people connecting and engaging with the wide range of health and social care services available locally. It was wonderful to have so many other important organisations joining us at the event and seeing so many people interacting with them.

“The event really captured the imagination as visitors enjoyed engaging with Therapets, tried out the smoothie bike, met our local emergency services and got to groom delightful ponies in outdoor activities.

“The energy and positive feedback we received truly highlighted how much we can achieve when we come together as a community.”

“Thank you again to everyone that joined us – we look forward to seeing you at future community events.”
