South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership is delighted to confirm the appointment of Claire Kavanagh as Head of Transformation and Performance.

Following a highly competitive interview process, Claire will formally start her new role on Monday 2 February 2026.

Professor Soumen Sengupta, Chief Officer for South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “My congratulations to Claire on joining our dynamic senior leadership team and becoming part of our health and social care family.

“Recent reports by the Audit Commission have underscored the critical importance of effective leadership across health and social care, particularly as we contend with increasingly challenging circumstances that demand vision, focus and resilience.

“Claire brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving innovation and improvement. I look forward to the significant contribution that Claire’s leadership will make to our collective commitment to deliver safe and effective care and to develop sustainable services for the benefit of the diverse communities that we serve.”

Claire added: “I am truly honoured to step into this role as Head of Transformation and Performance for South Lanarkshire.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues and partners to deliver compassionate, effective and sustainable services for our communities.”

Claire graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Laws and also has a MSc with distinction in International Marketing.

Claire has extensive experience in strategic planning, service improvement, performance management and transformational programme delivery across health and social care and local government.

Claire is currently Strategic Lead: Communities at East Ayrshire Council and has previously held posts in health and social care in a number of Health and Social Care Partnerships. Claire’s career has included leading major programmes focused on community-led regeneration, transformation of waste management services and collaborative commissioning in health and social care.
