NHS Lanarkshire’s new Chief Executive, Louise Long MBE, has completed her first week in post.
Louise spent time visiting frontline health and care services and meeting with the staff delivering those services in both primary and secondary care settings.
Reflecting on her first week, Louise said: “I’ve been incredibly impressed by the commitment, professionalism and compassion of staff across NHS Lanarkshire.
“There is real innovation here, teams are embracing new ways of working to improve patient care and ensure services are sustainable for the future.
“I’m excited to be part of this journey. As we look ahead, I am focused on building on this strong foundation and working alongside our staff, partners and communities to deliver high-quality care that makes a lasting difference.”
From urgent and acute care to community-based services, the new Chief Executive used her first days to listen, learn and observe the innovation and dedication of teams working across the health system.
Louise has more than three decades of public sector experience, including senior leadership in health and social care, most recently as Chief Executive of Inverclyde Council.
Louise will continue a programme of site visits over the coming weeks as she gets to know the people, services and priorities that shape healthcare in Lanarkshire.
