NHS Lanarkshire logo and 75 years of the NHS

Today, every nurse across Lanarkshire and beyond is being offered thanks from NHS Lanarkshire’s Executive Nurse Director ahead of International Nurses Day 2024 this Sunday.

Eddie Docherty, Executive Nurse Director, has offered a personal thank you to nurses across the world for their contribution to healthcare over the years and their vital role in improving the lives of millions of people around the world.

Eddie said: “Nurses throughout Lanarkshire, and indeed the world, have made an enormous contribution to the NHS and deserve to have a day dedicated to them.

“This year’s theme, Our Nurses, Our Future, is a global campaign which aims to set out what we want for nursing in the future in order to address the global health challenges and improve health for all.

“As a profession it is time to look to the future and this campaign will shine the light on nurses and on a brighter future.

“Without the nursing profession the NHS would be unable to offer the high-quality healthcare it provides day in and day out and we should applaud our nursing colleagues for their dedication and professionalism.

“I would like to offer my thanks to all our nursing colleagues across Lanarkshire on their day of recognition.”

International Nurses Day 2024, Nurses: Our Nurses, Our Future, aims to set out what we want for the future of nursing while shining a light on a brighter future for the profession.
