At a time where many of us are traditionally making new year resolutions to be healthier, NHS Lanarkshire is supporting residents to stick to their pledge through its free online 12-week weight management programme.
Designed for over 18s, this step-by-step programme encourages healthier behaviour choices, that then become daily habits.
Each week of the programme varies to include:
- Different health and wellbeing topics
- Tips from others who have gone through a similar journey
- Weekly tasks, like completing a lifestyle diary, checking food labels or planning meals for the week
Jonathan Cavana, Weight Management Service Manager, at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Sticking to new year resolutions is tough at the best of times, however this year it will, understandably, be particularly testing.
“During this tough time, being physically active and eating a balanced diet are important for not only our physical wellbeing, but also our emotional and mental health. For those considering making positive health changes, there is support available from NHS Lanarkshire to do so.
“This free 12-week plan requires no previous exercise or nutrition experience, and includes a body mass index (BMI) calculator to find out if the programme is right for you. It’s great for those that are taking their first steps to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“It’s not a diet; this is a programme designed to bring about a permanent lifestyle change and empower people to lead healthier lives.”
