Don’t miss the chance to give your views on appraisal of site options for new hospital

Oct 9, 2020

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SITE SCORES DO NOT REPRESENT A DECISION BY THE BOARD OF NHS LANARKSHIRE ON THE LOCATION OF THE NEW UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL MONKLANDS.

NHS Lanarkshire is reminding the public and its staff that it is seeking feedback following completion of an appraisal of the three site options for the new University Hospital Monklands.

The “site feasibility option appraisal” for the Monklands Replacement Project (MRP), which incorporates the recent postal scoring exercise carried out by a group of the public and NHS Lanarkshire staff, produced the following scores for the three potential sites (in alphabetical order):

  • Gartcosh                      194.12
  • Glenmavis                   156.84
  • Wester Moffat            195.74

The feedback period for the public, our staff and other stakeholders to give their views runs until midnight on 18 October. To comment:

The option appraisal process has produced a score for each of the sites but it is important to note that no decision has been made at this stage on the final choice for the hospital’s location.

There are several other factors that require to be considered by the Board of NHS Lanarkshire before they recommend a preferred site option to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, who will make a final decision.

A key element will be the views provided about the option appraisal process and its outcome, so NHS Lanarkshire is encouraging the community to comment during the feedback period.

Available on the MRP webpage – www.monklands.scot.nhs.uk:

  • Option appraisal summary document with details of how to participate in the feedback period and a summary of the outcome of the appraisal stages, including the postal scoring process undertaken by the community and NHS Lanarkshire staff.
  • Option appraisal report and appendices, providing full details of each element of the option appraisal process;
  • Easy read document about the option appraisal and how to participate in the feedback period;
  • British Sign Language video about the option appraisal and how to participate in the feedback period
