Changes to NHS Lanarkshire’s district nursing and treatment room services

NHS Lanarkshire has changed the way it is providing district nursing and treatment room services to help in the fight against COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Due to the demands that coronavirus is placing on services, patients will notice changes to the way they receive care. This will include using telephone calls and Near Me video call technology instead of traditional appointments.

Lynsey Sutherland, Interim Nurse Director, South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “We understand this is a worrying time for everyone. These changes will allow us to target our nursing resource and support people who are required to self-isolate at home.

“However, please be assured that where the district nursing staff assess the need for you to have a home visit, this will still happen. Our staff will contact you prior to visiting to ask if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or are shielding, so please let us know. This will allow us to ensure that staff visiting your home will be wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

“We would like to thank you in advance for helping us with these additional steps we are taking to support you during this time.”
