Bruce Medical Centre, in Bellshill, is having to reduce services as some members of staff are self-isolating with symptoms of Covid-19.

The decision was made as a safety precaution for patients and staff at the practice.

Dr Sian Campbell, Bruce Medical Centre, said: “Unfortunately, we had to cancel some appointments yesterday. We also closed the practice to carry out a deep clean of the building.

“All practice staff have been advised to self-isolate and are waiting on their test results. Plans are underway to ensure patient services will be back to normal as soon as possible.”

All patients registered with the practice will continue to access local GP, community pharmacy and health services during this period.

The practice will use existing ‘buddy’ arrangements to provide medical and administration cover and will continue to make best use of video appointments over the coming days.

Dr Campbell added: “We will continue to provide urgent care services for our patients at this time. However, we are unable to offer routine appointments. All patients who have scheduled appointments are being contacted.

“Anyone phoning the practice may have to wait longer for an answer due to reduced reception staff. We will have an automated message to advise patients of the situation.

“If patients have a life threatening condition we would urge them to contact 999. NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do.”
