Louise Long

Chief Executive (from 5 May 2025)

Biography

Louise has worked for 30 years in the public sector, 25 in a senior position, holding roles within education, social work and health and social care. She was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for Services to Local Government and the community of Inverclyde in the King’s New Year’s Honours List in December 2023.

Prior to starting her previous post as Chief Executive of Inverclyde Council in September 2021, Louise was Chief Officer for Inverclyde Integration Joint Board (IJB) and Corporate Director of Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) at Inverclyde Council from May 2017.

Previously, she was Head of Children and Families and Justice and Chief Social Work Officer at Argyll and Bute Council from 2015, starting at that council in 2012 as Head of Children’s Services.

Jacqui Jones

Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Human Resources

Biography

Jacqui joined NHS Lanarkshire on 1 July 2023 and is a highly experienced HR professional, manager and leader who has worked at Director level in NHS Scotland, local government, and at a senior level in the Civil Service. Jacqui was previously the Director of HR and Workforce Development for NHS National Services Scotland and Public Health Scotland.

Jacqui has specific expertise in situations involving major change management in NHS Scotland, local and central government, and in designing and delivering programmes and policies involving multiple stakeholders. Jacqui chairs and leads a number of national projects and is the Chair of the NHS Scotland HR Directors Group.

Calvin Brown

Director of Communications

Biography

Calvin graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a first-class BA Honours degree in Accounting. He went on to study journalism and worked as a reporter in England and Scotland before moving into public relations with South Lanarkshire Council. He started with the NHS in 2003 as Communications Manager for Lanarkshire Primary Care NHS Trust. He worked as Acting Head of Communications for NHS Lanarkshire from June 2016 before being appointed Director of Communications in 2017. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Ben Hannan

Director of Service Transformation, Planning and Performance

Biography

Ben joined NHS Lanarkshire from NHS Fife where he was Director of Strategic Planning and Transformation, leading major programmes focused on service reform, organisational performance and partnership working. Earlier in his career he held senior professional leadership roles within pharmacy

Fiona McEwan

Biography

Fiona McEwan, previously Assistant Director of Finance – Financial Planning and Performance at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in financial leadership across the NHS and public sector.

Jacqui McGeough

Director of Infrastructure, Sustainability and Support Services

Biography

Jacqui joined the NHS in 1991 as part of the Common Services Agency Building Division team and has worked in a broad range of roles including Commissioning, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Environmental Sustainability and Property Services.

During her 30+ years of service she has been a member of Acute, Diagnostics, Mental Health, Support Services, National and Corporate Management Teams and has also worked closely with Primary Care colleagues, navigating a range of complex developments and change processes.

Jacqui joined NHS Lanarkshire in January 2022 as the Deputy Director of Planning, Property and Performance having spent the previous seven years working as a Head of Planning for Clyde, Diagnostics and Regional Services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Professor S. Josephine Pravinkumar

Director of Public Health and Health Policy

Biography

Originally from Chennai, India, Josephine began her career in the UK in 1995 in the specialty of obstetrics & gynaecology before moving to pursue her ambition to work in public health.

She has a strong association with NHS Lanarkshire, having joined in 1999 to train in public health medicine. Following a period as a consultant with NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Josephine returned to Lanarkshire in 2009 and has worked with the health board as a consultant in public health medicine since then.

Josephine is NHS Lanarkshire’s Caldicott Guardian, responsible for protecting patient identifiable information. The Caldicott Guardian ensures patient privacy is protected.

Claire Rae

Chief Officer - Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire

Biography

Claire brings a wealth of experience in health and social care with her leadership expected to further enhance the partnership’s ongoing community services.

She joined NHS Lanarkshire in 2015, and in her previous role, Claire served as the head of health and social care at South Lanarkshire HSCP.

Claire’s fundamental aim is to improve the health, wellbeing, and quality of life for North Lanarkshire’s people and communities.

Former positions include board’s head of the Physiotherapy Service, and physiotherapy manager at University Wishaw Hospital.

Dr Dan Saunders

Medical Director

Biography

Dan’s clinical background is as a clinical oncologist, completing his training in Leeds. He joins us from The Northern Care Alliance in Manchester but began his consultant career at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust where he was also clinical director, before moving to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. There he supported the establishment of the NHS’ first high energy proton beam therapy service and also became Divisional Medical Director in Europe’s largest dedicated specialist cancer hospital.

Professor Soumen Sengupta

Chief Officer - Health and Social Care for South Lanarkshire

Biography

Soumen Sengupta is the Chief Officer of Health and Social Care for South Lanarkshire.

Alongside being Chief Officer for the South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership, he fulfils the role of:

Director of Social Work Services for South Lanarkshire Council, with strategic responsibility for the Children and Justice Services.
Director of Primary Care for NHS Lanarkshire, providing strategic leadership for pan-Lanarkshire Primary Care services.

His appointment as Director followed an extensive career in public health and in health and social care management; and his having led strategic transformation programmes at local, regional and national levels.

Soumen has a MSc in Public Health from the University of Aberdeen and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde.

Arwel Williams

Director of Acute Services

Biography

Arwel Williams joined NHS Lanarkshire from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, where they served as Director – South Sector since August 2022. Their responsibilities included oversight of major hospitals such as Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital.
Arwel has extensive experience in acute care leadership, having held senior roles including Director of Regional and Diagnostic Services at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and leadership positions at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. They began their NHS career in England as a management trainee.

Donald Wilson

Director of Information and Digital Technology

Biography

Donald took up the post of Director of Information and Digital Technology within NHS Lanarkshire in February 2013.

Donald has worked in a variety of roles over the past 30 years and brings extensive leadership experience from leading public sector teams across information management, information technology and digital. During his time in NHS Lanarkshire Donald has lead the implementation of a major IT programmes across primary and secondary care.

Donald started his career as an apprentice software engineer within the aerospace industry and has worked for a number of different technology companies including Marconi Instruments, GEC Ferranti and Motorola. He started working with the NHS in Scotland in 1997 initially as an IM&T Support Officer, and then an IM&T Manager before moving into general management.

Donald was educated at Edinburgh Napier University where he gained a BSc in Information Systems and later an MBA.

He has a keen interest in research and innovation utilising digital to help transform the delivery of health and care services.

Donald is married with two children and in his spare time enjoys playing golf and following Dunfermline Athletic.
