The North Lanarkshire Integration Joint Board has appointed Brian Moore as its new Chair.

Mr Moore has been as a member of the IJB for seven years and has served as Vice Chair since June 2022. He was previously Chair of the board’s Performance, Finance, and Audit Committee.

He is currently the Chair of the State Hospital Board for Scotland having formerly worked as Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership chief officer.

Since qualifying as a social worker in 1980, his management and leadership roles have provided considerable experience around community engagement, service development and improvement, partnership working and organisational change.

In his new role as Chair, Mr Moore aims to strengthen and grow the existing partnership working between the Integration Joint Board, NHS Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council, and the voluntary sector.

He is particularly focused on continuing and enhancing positive service transformations such as the innovative Home Assessment Team, and the strategic collaborations with Strathclyde and Caledonian Universities.

Mr Moore said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as Chair of the North Lanarkshire Integration Joint Board.

“I’m grateful to Councillor Anne McCrory who has now served her term as Chair. She will be a hard act to follow and her empathy, vision and determination to improve the health of all communities across North Lanarkshire has been clear to everyone.

“I want to thank all our health and social care staff for their continued dedication and hard work in integrating health and social care services. Their efforts are making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

“This positive difference is clearly shown through our partnerships with the universities. These relationships are delivering significant innovations in how services are designed and operated, making measurable improvements in the lives of our patients and service users.

“I’m committed to continuing to build on the impressive progress already made, deepening our engagement with local communities and the voluntary sector. These are key steps to ensure continued improvement and innovation that truly benefit North Lanarkshire’s communities.”

The position of Chair rotates every three years between NHS Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire Council. NHS Lanarkshire nominated Mr Moore following the completion of North Lanarkshire Council’s three-year term hosting the position. Mr Moore succeeds Councillor Anne McCrory, who now assumes the role of Vice Chair.
