Scotland’s Census
Scotland data is available through census maps, census data and reports.
Maps allow selection of geographical area, providing data on accommodation type, adult lifestyle, age, sex, household composition, household tenure, living arrangements, marital and civil partnership status, UK armed forces veterans. To access further data searches are available to be filtered down by date, location and topic i.e. Education, labour market, travel to work, health, sexual orientation, ethnic group, housing etc. With Reports available covering all of the above topic areas.
ScotPHO Profiles – Indicators for public Health
ScotPHO Profiles – Indicators for public Health
The site provides an interactive tool to set and compare key indicators within North and South Lanarkshire. Covering a wide variety of midyear population estimates, by age range from 0 to 75+, primary school children, secondary school children and Live births.
National records of Scotland (NRS) – data on population structure
National Records for Scotland collect and report on data in relation to Scotland’s people and history, to inform current and future generations.
Providing access to records and archives, learning and events, publications, statistics and data. A wide range of data is available on the population of Scotland, the age, sex and structure of the population, population change and why these changes are occurring i.e. birth rates, death rates, people moving in and out of Scotland etc.

Office of national statistics – data on population, society and the labour market
Provides detailed information about Scotland’s population, covering a variety of topics. Allowing data to be filtered by age, sex and geographical location.
Director of Public Health Annual Report and Statistical Appendices
Reports on work across Lanarkshire to prevent disease, promote health and wellbeing and protection for the population of Lanarkshire from health-related threats. Accompanied with appendices, also available within the downloads.
Marmot: Scotland’s Collaboration for Health Equity (CHES)
South Lanarkshire is proud to be one of only three areas in Scotland designated as a Marmot Place for 2025–26. This national collaboration between Public Health Scotland, the Institute of Health Equity and three local areas supports action at both local and national levels to tackle the root causes of health inequalities, guided by the eight Marmot Principles.

North Lanarkshire
Joint Strategic Commissioning Plan
The Strategic Commissioning Plan sets out how the Health & Social Care Partnership plans and delivers services for North Lanarkshire. The Plan provides data on population change, life expectancy trends, poverty and deprivation, along with critical public-health indicators such as the drug-related death rate and alcohol-related mortality.
The document also contains the Strategic Needs Analysis, P33, presenting data on demographics, population projections, life expectancy, care-at-home provision, unscheduled care activity, self-directed support, delayed discharge trends, and long-term conditions. It further explores the needs of children and young people, mental health, care in the last six months of life, outpatient activity, cancer incidence, births and deaths, smoking prevalence, primary care demand, and broader health inequalities.
