High level concern is where you or your child are struggling with poor mental health and are in need of intensive supports to provide help that can ease and treat specific conditions. This area contains a range of services to further support you with this. Many of these services require a referral from a GP, teacher, school nurse or social worker.

Mental Health Support:

- A direct therapeutic service to infants, children and young people. Therapeutic parenting and group work with carers and staff. Consultation and training to multidisciplinary teams. The service aims to support and improve young people’s mental health.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Reach Out

Mental Health Support:
- The CAMHS Reach Out Team provides a mental health service for infants, children and young people whose emotional wellbeing/ mental health is impacted by severe and enduring mental illness experienced by their parent(s), carer(s) or other close family member. The young people referred will be having difficulties with emotional, psychological and/or behavioural difficulties which are significantly impacting on their day to day lives. The indication will be that the parental/ familial mental illness will be a significant contributor to the difficulties experienced by the young person. The team offers consultation, expertise and training to the wider multi- disciplinary network focusing on: infant mental health; the parent-child relationship; and the impact of severe and enduring mental ill health in the family system.

Education Resources Psychological Service

Mental Health Support:
- Provide support to parents and carers, teachers and other professionals in their attempts to meet children’s educational, social and emotional needs.
There are concerns about a baby’s emotional development and well-being. There are concerns about a baby’s relationship with the parent and their relationship with their baby.
Provide children and young people (aged 0 – 19) with the support and encouragement they need to do their best at school. Provide advice to North Lanarkshire Education Resources and other professional colleagues, on how everyone can work together to achieve the best outcomes for every child.
Provide consultation and advice to colleges, Skills Development Scotland and other agencies working with young people aged 19-24 years

- Delayed development, speech, language and/or communication difficulties. Significant difficulties in learning, or with school work. Emotional barriers which significantly interfere with learning or behaviour. Behaviour which may be causing serious problems at home and/or at school. Physical difficulty providing a significant obstacle to learning

DBI (Distress Brief Intervention)

Mental Health Support:
- DBI is a non-clinical intervention, consisting of two interrelated parts. Level 1 sees trained front-line staff such as health, police, ambulance and primary care staff help ease the person’s distress, provide a compassionate response and where appropriate, involves an offer of a seamless referral, with confidence and clarity to a DBI Level 2 service. Level 2 is provided by commissioned and trained third sector staff who contact the person within 24-hours of referral and provide community-based problem solving support, wellness and distress management planning, supported connections and signposting. North Lanarkshire the 3rd sector partner is Lifelink and South Lanarkshire the 3rd sector partners are LAMH and The Richmond Fellowship.
Eligibility:Â
- Support for those with an emotional distress presenting to frontline services including A&E, Police, Ambulance, GP, and NHS 24
Age Range:
- Schools can refer pupils from S3 and upwards. C&YP not in education can be referred by trained staff from frontline services.

- Within North Lanarkshire the schools are: Bellshill Academy, Kilsyth Academy, Airdrie Academy and Coltness High. Within South Lanarkshire the schools who can refer include: Strathaven Academy, Larkhall Academy, St Andrews and St Brides and Stonelaw Academy. Frontline services with appropriate DBI level 1 training such as GPs, NHS 24, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and Lanarkshire Emergency Departments
