Useful Information
Appointment dates and times are now being issued to residents across Lanarkshire as we gear up for the start of this year’s Winter vaccination programme.
The programme will offer the Flu and Covid booster to those who are eligible for either, or both.
To find out if you are eligible please visit NHS inform at https://www.nhsinform.scot/wintervaccines.
Since 1 April 2022, GP practices no longer have responsibility for providing vaccinations. Please do not contact your GP practice about vaccinations.
The vaccination service provides a range of vaccines from centres that were set up to deliver the covid-19 vaccine. The winter programme will be delivered at our three main sites which will provide vaccinations every day are:
- Braidfute Retail Park, Ladyacre Road, Lanark, ML11 7LQ
- Eddlewood Public Hall, Birkhall Road, Hamilton, ML3 8BG
- Muirhead Clinic, 192 Cumbernauld Rd, Chryston, Glasgow G69 9NB
There will be a number of other sites which we will utilise when they are available. These will be supported by a range of local ‘pop up’ clinics.
Who is eligible for the Booster
COVID
The COVID-19 vaccine should be offered to:
- residents in care homes for older adults
- adults aged 75 years and over (born on or before 31 March 1952)
- people aged 6 months and over (born on or before 1 March 2026) with a weakened immune system.
INFLUENZA
Children and young people
The seasonal flu vaccine should be offered to the following eligible children and young people:
- children aged 6 months to 2 years with an eligible health condition
- children aged 2 to 5 years who are not yet at school (children must be aged 2 years or over on 1 September 2026)
- children and young people attending primary and secondary school.
Adults
The seasonal flu vaccine should be offered to adults at increased risk of serious illness from flu. Eligible groups for the 2026/27 programme include:
- people living in long-stay residential care homes and other long-stay care facilities
- adults aged 65 years and over
- adults aged 18 to 64 years with an eligible health condition
- people experiencing homelessness or substance misuse
- asylum seekers living in Home Office hotel or B&B accommodation
- people living in a Scottish prison
- pregnant women
- frontline health and social care workers
- non-frontline NHS workers
- unpaid and young carers
- household contacts of individuals with a weakened immune system
- poultry workers and bird handlers meeting eligibility criteria
- cattle and swine workers meeting eligibility criteria.
