The Adult Learning Disability Service has designed this section of the NHS Lanarkshire website to help people with a learning disability get accessible health information in various formats.

Tests

    MRI scan takes pictures of inside your body.
  • Biopsy
    A Biopsy takes away some cells or tissues from your body
  • Colonoscopy
    Colonoscopy is a test to check your colon (bowel)
  • CT Scan
    CT Scans let us take pictures of the inside of your body and bones.
  • Ultrasound
    Ultrasound scans let us take moving pictures of the inside of your body and bones.
  • Endoscopy
    Endoscopy is a test that checks your tummy
  • Laparoscopy
    Is an operation that allows the doctor to go inside your tummy.
  • Having your temperature taken
    Having your temperature taken can let us know if you are unwell.
  • Plaster Cast
    If you break a bone you may need to have a plaster cast put on.
  • Having an eye test in hospital
    We may have to check your eyesight or vision for any problems
  • Having an injection
    You may need to have an injection before you go on holiday, to stop you becoming ill or to cure an illness.
  • Having your blood taken
    Having your blood taken can let us know if you are unwell.
  • Having your blood pressure checked
    Having your blood pressure checked will let us know if you are unwell.
