Patients across Lanarkshire now have even greater access to convenient blood testing services, as the drop-in Bloods and go programme continues to expand.
The service, which allows patients to have blood tests without the need for an appointment, will be available in nine of the ten localities across Lanarkshire, with Airdrie becoming the latest area to offer Bloods and go from Wednesday 19 August 2026.
Delivered through local NHS Lanarkshire Treatment Rooms, Bloods and go provides a simple, flexible way for patients to have blood tests requested by their GP practice. Patients can attend during opening hours at participating Treatment Rooms and be seen on a drop-in basis, making it easier to fit healthcare around work, family and other commitments.
First launched in East Kilbride, the service has steadily expanded and is now also available in Airdrie, Cambuslang/Rutherglen, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Hamilton, Lanark, Motherwell and Wishaw, helping to improve access to care closer to home. Bellshill is planned to become the final locality to introduce the service in October 2026, when Bloods and go will be available in all areas of Lanarkshire.
Paul O’Neill, Head of Community Health for South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “Bloods and go has proved extremely popular because it offers flexibility and convenience. Patients don’t need to book an appointment and can attend at a time that suits them during opening hours.
“We are delighted to see the service continue to expand across Lanarkshire, with Airdrie joining the programme from 19 August. This reflects our commitment to making healthcare more accessible, improving patient experience and ensuring people can receive care closer to home.”
Blood tests must be requested by a GP practice and people can attend any Bloods and go clinic across Lanarkshire, regardless of where they live.
