NHS Lanarkshire as an Anchor Organisation
NHS Lanarkshire is an Anchor Organisation.
This means we:
- employ many people and try to be a fair employer
- spend large amounts of money with local businesses
- own and manage land and assets
- deliver important public services
- work in partnership with other organisations
These are known as the 5 Anchor pillars.
In 2023, we launched a 3-year Anchor Action Plan, which has been extended until 31 March 2027. The Anchor plan helps us use NHS Lanarkshire’s size, power, staff, and influence, to benefit local people and communities.
We use Community Wealth Building approaches to contribute to Scotland’s wider wellbeing economy.
Watch our Director of Public Health, Josephine Pravinkumar, speak about NHS Lanarkshire’s work as an Anchor organisation in the video below, or read the 2023 Public Health Report.
